The Bedroom Made For Golden Afternoons
Dare you to find something more poetic than a golden afternoon.* Can’t? Me neither. Which is why I worship the fact that Yucca has mostly west-facing windows— those desert sunsets turn gold and last forever.
This pool-facing bedroom might have the best views in the house, but we snuck in some special details that fancy it up. No resting on the laurels of your views here.
1. Great Lighting
I obsess over lighting schemes. Overhead lighting is my enemy, and I vehemently demand dimmer switches, dimmer switches everywhere. Turns out, a good bedside light can add 100% of the ambiance I’m after with none of the rewiring, and these treasures look sparsely industrial and cool even before you ever turn on their soft, nighttime glow.
2. chairs with character
Fun story: this bedroom used to be the indoor hot tub room, stained with years of smoke from the old owner smoking while soaking. It took a lot of rehab, but we de-grossed it, and thus had a good, large room to play with. The extra space became a little seating area, stocked with cheeky almost-green chairs from Room & Board.
3. Elegant wood elements
I kid you not, this brooding little armoire is one of the sexiest pieces of furniture I’ve ever seen. Gorgeously designed and made, it stands out without trying, like that crush you never got over.
5. Delicious sheets
When two of my favorite brands, InBed x Triibe, partnered, I knew their spoils were a must. This rust-colored set of linen bedding is so vibrant is creates a gravitational pull towards the bed.
